So proud of our team!  

We had some difficulties to overcome at the meet, though. 

Lock Down - Westside HS was under Lock Down when we arrived but it cleared fairly soon.  Unknown why.

Internet - Westside had difficulties with internet connectivity, causing some issues with the touch pads.  As a results we didn't get any times in real-time.  They did take paper times.  I will share those with our athletes when they are made available to me.  I will make sure to recognize any athletes who recorded best times from any previous times.  

Covid 19 Precautions - I was impressed with how well our athletes did.  They keep their mask in place and followed directions.

Events - They did the best I've ever seen for a first meet.  Athletes were able to find their location and compete in their events.  Special thanks to Mrs. Stanger.  She was amazing at getting them where they needed to be.  We only had two that didn't make their event.  A relay and one individual swimmer.  The relay was there but didn't understand that they combined the boys 7th and 8th grade relays.  The individual swimmer was actually on the blocks trying to get their goggles on when they started.  That is not bad for a first meet but we will learn from this and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Team Spirit - The Water Pandas were in the house.  I noticed a HUGE difference between our kids and the other team.  Our kids were helping each other and cheering their teammates on.  I was very proud of them.

Leadership - I asked for a few of the more experienced swimmers to help me insure our athletes got to where they needed to be and was very happy with the result.   

Swimmers - Normal meets format is 2 relays and 2 individual events.  Some of our athletes swam 2 relays and 4 individual events.  I worked this out with the other coach to make sure we got as many times as we could get due to the abbreviated schedule.  Really proud of the swimmers who stepped up and swam!

Pool - Our pool has still not been cleared.  I will message parents as soon as we are back up and running.
