Swim Parents,

Good Morning 

Pool Repairs: Our Principal, Dr. Shetzer, and our PTO President, Mrs. Moorhead, just left the pool area with a contractor.  They were looking at the A/C Unit that is dangling over our pool.  It looks like we are closer to getting our pool back up and running.  Fingers crossed that it will be soon. 

To prepare for swimming in class, make sure you have: 

• two solid black team swimsuits
• two pairs of goggles
• small towel - microfiber preferred (So it fits in their backpack or locker)
• shower shoes or slides 
• Suggest renting a locker from PE for $25 to store these items

Parent/Athlete Swim Meeting: We will be having a meeting Wednesday, Sept 14th from 6:00 - 7:00 in the main gym.  I will present information then open the floor to questions.  I will stay until all questions are answered.  Mr. Puertas will set us up with Zoom technology and record the meeting.  This way you will be able to attend virtually or see the recording at a later time.  However, it is my hope that you attend in person if possible so I can meet you.

Swim Social: We will have our first swim social of the year on Friday, Sept 23 from 4:30 - 6:30 PM.  It will be at: 1010 Howard Lane in Bellaire.  

A big thank you to the Streeter Family for allowing us the use of their home.  They have a large game room with ping pong, Air Hockey, Foosball, and a TV.  They also have a basketball net outside and plenty of yard to hang out in.  

Please bring a six pack of drinks gator aide or cola or a few small sized chip bags.  

Team Spirit: I have decided to do a swim social each six weeks to build team spirit.  I always speak to my swimmers after meets, events, and at the end of the year to get feedback to improve the program.  One of the areas for improvement was for them to get to know the kids in the other classes and the kids who are on the swim team but couldn't make the schedule work.  These get togethers are not required by encouraged.  I have also been carving out some time in class for kids to talk in small groups.
