Swim Parents - 

Good day 

I'm so happy that the kids are in the pool.  They were looking a little like a fish out of water running laps on the field.  Now they are in there element.

Swim Class: We are getting started by learning or revisiting: 

Basic structure of the class, circle swimming, using a pace clock streamline, flip turns, freestyle.  The kids are eager to take on the other strokes but we are focusing on the basics for the moment.  We will be getting times for each of the swimmers this week.  We will check them again throughout the year to see how they progress.

Dressing Out: The class is doing a good job bringing their suit, goggles, towels, slides, and water bottles.  Make sure to help them remember.  If they don't bring their gear they will have points taken off and may have to do an alternative assignment.  I would much rather have them swimming.  I know they would too.  Make sure they have a PE uniform just in case.  I missed Monday morning so 6th grade 2nd period had an unexpected PE class.  Sorry, I'll let you know if I can.

SWAG: I've ordered jackets, t-shirts, and swim caps.  I'm not sure when they will be in.  I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.  I have to wait for HISD to cut a check and then for them to be produced. 

Fins: I have ordered swim fins for the classes.  They should be in quickly.  Fingers crossed.  I know the kids will love working out with the fins.

Pink Out Volleyball Match: This Thursday, 10/06/22, the Pershing Volleyball Team will be hosting TH Rogers.  7th grade will play at 6:00 PM and 8th grade will play at 7:00 PM.  We have several swimmer on the volleyball team.  I would love for our team to come out in force to both support our swimmers and the school by cheering us on to victory.  I will be there, in pink, taking photos of the match for the yearbook.  I would love to take swimmers photos in the stands cheering us on for the yearbook too!  If you can make it be sure to wear your pink.  The band, cheerleaders, and dance team will all be there.  It should be a great Panda Night!
