HISD Championship Results
Swim Parents –
I am proud to inform you of the Pershing Swim Team’s win last night at the HISD Division I Championships. They placed FIRST in total points by a wide margin. Pershing scored 469 points. The next teams were TH Rogers with 341 and Meyerland with 258. Hamilton and Attucks were far behind them. Give your athlete a hug. They did great and look very organized in the process.
They placed first in the following divisions: 7th Grade Girls, 8th Grade Girls, & 8th Grade Boys. In addition to winning HISD’s Division I Swimming last night, Emily Mahan set two district records: 7th Grade Girl’s 100 Free Style with a time of 58.82 and 7th Grade Girl’s 50 Breaststroke with a time of 36.27. Pershing only held one of the 32 records prior to last night. We are building a dynasty that will help make Pershing a school of choice in our district.
When I arrived at Pershing there were 34 swimmers, we are now up to 90. With the support of Dr. Shetzer we have grown from 2 classes to 4 classes and have overhauled the pool, equipment, and have purchased a touchpad system that is on par with the high schools.
I will be having tryouts for next year for students not already on the team April 11, 12, & 13 from 4:00 – 5:00. If you know any students currently in 5th, 6th or 7th this year that would be a good fit have them reach out to me at dave.snook@houstonisd.org.
Thank you,
Coach Snook
