    Swim News 1/5 (Please Read)

    Swim Parents,

    Good afternoon!  :)

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and wishing you the best of this new year.

    Pershing v Pin Oak - Wednesday, Jan 10 @ Bellaire HS from 5:00 - 8:00 (6:00 Start)

    *** Make sure to send me your athlete's preferred events (50FS, 50BK, 50BR, 50FLY, 100FS, 200FS, IM)

I am missing several students.  I am supposed to submit my team tonight.  If you have already submitted, thank you.

Rides - Transportation is not provided to Bellaire.  Ask a friend for a ride.  If you can't find one I will help put you in touch with someone who can.

Fee - Bellaire will be charging admittance.  I believe it's $5.  I recommend having cash but they might be able to take e-cash.

Concessions - They have told me that there will be snacks available.

Uniform - Swimmers must have their solid black suit, team swim cap, and goggles.  I recommend a water bottle and towel.

Pick-Up - The meet will end around 8:00.  However, meets never end exactly on time.  Please, be prepared to pick up your athlete no later than 7:45.

Seating - Bellaire is a small natatorium with limited seating.  Please, consider brining a camp chair for your comfort.

Parking - Bellaire HS has a new parking garage.  Please, use this and then walk to the natatorium from there.  (I have attached a map of Bellaire HS.)

Attendance - All 7th/8th graders are required to attend swim meets.  Every student matters and we feel it when they can't attend.  Please, let me know as soon as possible if your child is unable to attend.  Last minute scratches impact the team as a whole and other individual individual athletes. In meets I can only swim four kids per event.  Kids that scratch take other athletes spots.

Lost Swim Caps - If an athlete loses their swim cap they must buy a replacement.  Swim caps cost $10.  Please, have them buy the replacement prior to the meet.

Snacks - Please, ensure your athlete has a light snack prior to the meet as close to 4:00 as possible.  Granola bars, power bars, fruit, etc.  Don't have them eat too much though.  I will not be providing snacks at meets.

Water - Have your athlete bring their water bottle to ensure hydration.  All natatoriums have water fountains available but it's nice to have yours for personal use.

Backpacks - Please, make arrangements to avoid bringing anything extra into the natatorium.  Space is VERY limited.  Items get lost, wet, misplaced, etc...  Backpacks take space away from athletes.  Try to leave them in the car if at all possible.

Practice - Practice begins Monday or Tuesday Jan 8 or 9.  Practice is required for all swimmers who do not have year-round swimming.  Practice is from 4:00 - 5:30.  Students are required to attend the day they are not swimming in class.  If there is a conflict on that day they are expected to attend the other day.  I will be tracking attendance.  Practice will last until HISD Championships, Saturday, Feb 17th.

Year-Round Swimmers - To excuse your year-round swimmer respond to this email with a note saying they are swimming year-round and the program they are working with.

    Thank you,

    Coach
