Good afternoon. 😃 

Today we started our fundraiser with 2nd and 4th periods.  This is my first time trying a fundraiser like this. Principal Goodson, Coach Burgan, and Mr Parker all had really good things to say about it. Numerous schools in our district have used it, (Lamar, Bellaire, Pine Oak), and are happy with the program.  I’m excited to see the results. 

As I mentioned earlier, we are looking to raise funds to purchase lockers to be used exclusively by the swim class.  The lockers will be tall and allow students to hang towels and swimsuits without risking mildew due to wet wadded up items being stored in small lockers. It will also be nice to have them located in the halls adjacent to the pool, instead of having them in the locker rooms.

The lockers will cost approximately $14K with tax, shipping, and installation. I have set the fundraising goal at $16K. If we hit our mark we will use the remainder to replace the backstroke flags that have gone from red to pink and black to gray, purchase banners for the championships we have won at Pershing 07, 08, 10, 11, 22, and 23, we will also purchase individual banners recognizing athletes who have set HISD District records, and finally we will make a banner for the current athletes participating in swim class and swim team this year. I noticed the fundraising website lists a generic message about uniforms and equipment. Please disregard this. I will be correcting it soon. 
Please, try to send this fundraiser to 20 family members or friends. The more participants, the more likely we are to hit our goal. 
For fun we are pitting the boys against the girls.  The winner will get a pizza party in the courtyard during lunch. If we hit our goal everyone will get the pizza party. 
Tomorrow the 6th and 8th period classes will begin their fundraising. During class tomorrow there will be a representative from Vertical Raise. Tell your athlete to be prepared to provide your email and phone number. An email/text will be sent to you with a link. With this email you will be able to add addresses and phone numbers. If any donations come in during class tomorrow they will announce it for the students. The kids get a kick out of it. So be on the lookout for a message. (10:15 for 6th period) and (2:45 for 8th period). These donations are tax deductible and they will provide a form for you to use. Make sure to check if your work will match your donation.  While HISD won’t, my wife’s work does!  So we were able to take advantage of that.

Currently the boys are leading the girls in donations $611 girls - $2,560 boys. Go boys!!!
